Now we see it for free … Material conversion (Redshift, V-ray and Octane), does not work in R19. Not to mention HD characters … that do not load anything well in materials …Ī year and a half ago they announced their “Daz To Cinema4d”. In Maya 2018: In Arnold, the eyes and eyelashes do not work. I have tested in Maya 2016: It does not convert materials. His first DazToMaya plugin works better than this new one: Without a doubt.
) render engine, but anyone with some knowledge of 3D software can do it without plugins. ? They want to encourage people not using Daz to buy their stuff !) (When you think about it, of course they are free.
So feel free to download them to your heart content. įor those who want to check the “Bridges” script/pluging, they are here and are labeled as “Free”. When you check those bridge and their video tutorial, it’s really just say ” DAZ TO XXXX “ and only TO….as in unilateral direction ->. If anything else, maybe their are seeing has allowing more easily imported stuff from other platform to their own platform might not benifit the sell of their own asset.) Where they are making most of their money is on their own assets. I think Daz Studio couldn’t care less of making assets from other program work for their platform. Well…*scratch head*…when you look at how it was presented and marketed, it really seem to be doing only the other way around of what you were hoping for. Now they just made a little widget to make it more simple to all the pleb. Because before, it’s was possible to import stuff to other platform. And thus…give them a reason to buy and spend more money in their store. To allow more easily others peoples who weren’t using Daz and couldn’t use Daz’s asset to use them. Yeah, it’s just mainly a way to sell more stuff.
When i see how those bridges were marketed, i think it’s only a way for Daz Studio to tell to the other “mass” of 3D creator who are using other 3D program “Hey! You who are using Blender, Maya or 3DS….use ours free program ! Buy ours assets ! You can then import them in your own favorite 3D program if you want and use them there. I feel that Daz3D is going to move towards being a content provider for other software and drop Studio. This is how they started many years ago and where successful at it. No more buying expensive tutorials that where crap.
It also means that we all have access to a brilliant shader system that’s open source. This lessens the need for NVidea cards since Blender can use whatever you have. Possibly, content sales aren’t enough to keep needed programmers.
There’s lots of questions to be answered but I’ll throw out some speculation:ġ) NVidea asked for a ton more money for Iray, Daz balked and is looking to lessen it’s reliance on Iray.Ģ)Writing and supporting Studio is becoming too expensive for Daz as the competition is getting so much better, faster. The Blender bridge doesn’t work nearly as well as the existing Diffeomorphic ( ) bridge but it shows a major shift at Daz. It seems that Daz has released bridges to other programs, notably Blender. I hope that everyone reads the forums over at Daz often.
